Discover the Anderton Boat Lift, an incredible spiderlike iron structure and travel along the country's biggest navigable aqueduct the Pontcysyllte.
Saturday We depart and travel to the Anderton Boat Lift. The lift was built by Edwin Clark in 1975 to carry cargo boats the 50 feet from the River Weaver to the Trent and Mersey Canal. We depart later this afternoon for the journey to Mold and the Beaufort Park Hotel. This evening enjoy a three course evening meal.
Sunday Following breakfast, we travel home via Llangollen with an included canal cruise. The canal boat will carry you through the beautiful Vale of Llangollen and across the famous Pontcysyllte Aqueduct built by Thomas Telford. This length of canal is a World Heritage Site and towers 126ft above the beautiful River Dee below. We depart later this afternoon to make our journey home.
The Beaufort Park Hotel is an independently run hotel, located just a short drive from the historic market town of Mold, set in the attractive North Wales countryside. All bedrooms are located on the ground and first floor and are all en-suite with television, telephone and tea/coffee making facilities. Additional facilities include a bar, lounge and restaurant. NO LIFT. Official rating AA 3 star.
