Itinerary

Sunday We depart for the port of Holyhead and our crossing to Dublin. On arrival we continue to Co. Carlow for one night, dinner, bed & breakfast.

Monday Following breakfast, we depart our hotel and make our way to Midleton, Co. Cork. En-route to Midleton, we will enjoy a journey on the Waterford & Suir Valley Railway. We will join the train at Bilbery Station, Waterford and experience the beauty of the Suir Valley and take in the wonderful panoramic views of the River Suir. On arrival at Mount Congreve Gardens, one of the world’s largest private gardens, we will enjoy free time to explore. The gardens at Mount Congreve, Waterford, consist of around seventy acres of woodland garden and a four acre walled garden. Later this
afternoon our scenic journey will continue to Midleton on the outskirts of Cork, for three nights dinner, bed & breakfast at the Midleton Park Hotel.

Tuesday Today we enjoy a visit to Fota House & Gardens. Discover the grand decor of the principle rooms and charming nursery, or the service wing with the beautifully preserved kitchens, where you can experience what life was like for the cooks, butlers, footmen and maids who supported the lavish lifestyle of the gentry. Enjoy the tranquil beauty of Fota’s gardens and stroll in the historic ‘pleasure grounds’ or the award winning Victorian walled garden. Later this afternoon we travel to Cobh, situated on the shores of the Great Island and is one of the world’s finest natural harbours. Cobh is a picturesque town, full of old time charm, history and elegant buildings. It was called Queenstown for a few decades before reverting to its Irish name in 1922. For many years Cobh was the point of departure for hundreds of thousands of Irish men and women who emigrated from Ireland to build a new life, especially in the Famine years of 1844-48.

Wednesday Enjoy a day visiting Kinsale. Originally a medieval fishing port, historic Kinsale is one of the most picturesque and historic towns on the south west coast of Ireland. Visitors to Kinsale are captivated by its beautiful setting; its long waterfront, yacht-filled harbour, narrow winding streets and brightly painted galleries, shops and houses. Not only does Kinsale claim to be one of the most picturesque and oldest towns in Ireland, it is also internationally renowned for the number and quality of its restaurants. It has been hailed as ‘The Gourmet Capital of Ireland’, with no shortage of cafés, pubs and restaurants to suit every taste and budget. We will enjoy a scenic cruise and enjoy spectacular tour of Kinsale harbour. The cruise will give you a very different view of Kinsale and its beautiful natural harbour. We return to Midleton and enjoy some free time in Cork.

Thursday We depart the hotel after breakfast and enjoy a guided tour of the Jameson Distillery. The guided tour will bring the stories of Jameson’s rich heritage to life. You’ll learn about the hard working people and field-to-glass processes responsible for the whiskey that bears John Jameson’s name. We will continue to our hotel on the outskirts of Dublin for one night dinner, bed and breakfast.

Friday An early departure as we travel to Dublin Port. A full breakfast is included on-board the ferry. We continue our journey home.
