The departure on the 7th July 2025 will include a journey on The Flying Scotsman, a legendary steam locomotive and a symbol of British engineering excellence. Built in 1923, it became the first engine to officially reach 100 mph, cementing its place in history. Renowned for its sleek design and powerful performance, it has captivated generations of rail enthusiasts. Do not miss the chance to get up close to the fastest steam train of all time – the Flying Scotsman on a Wilfreda Beehive breakaway.

Itinerary

Day 1. Monday We travel to Weston super Mare.

Day 2. Tuesday Following breakfast, we include an excursion to Bath. The golden city of Bath has welcomed visitors for over 2,000 years. Bath is home to some of the most impressive architectural sights in the world, including the Royal Crescent. At the heart of Bath city centre, next to Bath’s imposing Abbey, is the Roman Baths Museum, which offers a fascinating insight into the original bathing complex and the great Roman temple of Sulis Minerva. You’ll have time to explore the city at your leisure, whether soaking in the history or indulging in a bit of shopping. Bath is full of places to eat, drink, and independent shops, making it the ideal excursion.

Day 3. Wednesday Today we enjoy a journey on the West Somerset Railway, travelling from Bishop Lydeard to Minehead for a single journey. The West Somerset Railway is a heritage steam railway operating between Bishop's Lydeard, near Taunton and Minehead, and it is the longest independent railway in Britain. The line meanders through the picturesque Quantock Hills, an area of outstanding natural beauty, and along the scenic Bristol Channel Coast. The railway passes through ten delightful stations including the medieval village of Dunster, with its spectacular castle, before reaching Minehead, a charming Edwardian seaside town.

Day 4. Thursday Enjoy a day at leisure or we may offer an optional excursion (charge applicable). Your driver will provide you with further information.

Day 5. Friday We depart after breakfast and return home.

New Ocean Hotel

The New Ocean Hotel is situated on the seafront opposite the famous Marine Lake and has panoramic views over Weston Bay and is a short walk to Weston’s town centre. All bedrooms are en-suite with television and tea/coffee making facilities. Additional facilities include a lounge bar and restaurant. Two lifts to all floors with steps to some bedrooms.
