Step 2,000 years into the past as you wander the Gothic halls of York Minster Cathedral, delve into the city’s Viking past at Jorvik, or explore history of a different kind at the National Railway Museum, the home of iconic locomotives. Trace the footsteps of William the Conqueror at Clifford’s Tower with great views of the city, or visit the independent boutiques nestled in the pretty 13th century timber buildings of The Shambles.
Day 3. Wednesday Following breakfast, we will enjoy a visit to Skipton and its popular Wednesday Market. The history of the market dates to medieval times, when a Royal Charter from King John granted consent to ‘The Lord of the Honour’ of Skipton Castle to hold a fair on Skipton High Street. Today the market is home to an array of stalls selling everything from cheeses to scarves, local meat to arts & crafts, shoes & boots to Yorkshire made blankets.
