Day 1. Monday We travel to Newtonmore.
Day 2. Tuesday Enjoy an included journey on the Strathspey Steam Railway. A leisurely drive to Aviemore with time at leisure to explore the resort before boarding the Strathspey Steam train to Broomhill. Hauled by steam the 45-minute journey passes through Boat of Garten. Brought back to life in 1978 by a dedicated group of volunteers, this ten-mile restored section of the original Highland Railway Line enables you to travel back in time to an era when steam whistles blew, carriage doors slammed shut and there was a familiar click-clack, rhythm of the rails, as the train travels along the track.
Day 3. Wednesday Today we enjoy a journey on the Kyle Line. We will depart the train at Dingwall and travel to the Kyle of Lochalsh, by the Isle of Skye. The journey will pass moorlands and mountain regions and was quoted by Michael Palin as being one of the most beautiful rail journeys in Europe. The final section of the journey is perhaps the most dramatic, as it is carved through the solid rock that leads to Kyle Pier and the end of the journey. The journey will be operated by diesel train. Excursion may operate in reverse.
Day 4. Thursday Following a leisurely breakfast, we include a journey on the spectacular West Highland Line, from Fort William to Mallaig. Widely regarded as one of the world's greatest train journeys, the West Highland Line is known to millions as the railway that took Harry Potter from Platform 9 and ¾ all the way to Hogwarts. You’ll travel over the Glenfinnan Viaduct and through a daunting landscape of mountains, steep-sided lochs, and heather moors. The journey will be operated by diesel train. Excursion may operate in reverse.
Day 5. Friday We depart and return home.
Excursion days are subject to change and will be confirmed with your final travel documents.
