Day 1. Monday We travel to Llanberis.
Day 2. Tuesday Following breakfast, we enjoy a journey on-board the Welsh Highland Railway. The railway is the UK’s longest heritage railway and travels from Caernarfon, beside its famous castle to Beddgelert, crossing the lower slopes of Snowdon with the scenery changing at every turn. The line reaches its highest point at Pitt's Head before descending dramatically round horseshoe bends through the forest to Beddgelert village. Our journey will travel from Caernarfon to Beddgelert, which is 2/3 of the line.
Day 3. Wednesday Following breakfast, we enjoy a journey on-board the Ffestiniog Railway. The iconic railway boasts a passenger service that goes back to the mid-1800s, and you will find history all around this famous little line, built to bring slate from the quarries of Blaenau Ffestiniog to the harbour at Porthmadog, from where it was shipped all over the world. Today, tourists have taken over from slate traffic, but the journey remains as beautiful, snaking round twists and turns as trains cling to the valley side. Our journey will travel from Porthmadog to Blaenau Ffestiniog.
Day 4. Thursday Located a short walk from the hotel, we include a journey on the Llanberis Lake Railway and Snowdon Mountain Railway. The Llanberis Lake Railway, rides along the shores of Padarn Lake, whilst the Snowdon Mountain Railway will take you to Clogwyn, ¾ of the way to the summit. The journey time to Clogwyn is approximately 45 minutes (each-way) and passengers have a 30-minute stop-over at this unsheltered station. Please be aware that there are no facilities at Clogwyn, or on-board the trains. The service represents a 2-hour experience overall. The journey is operated by a diesel train and is subject to weather conditions.
Day 5. Friday We depart after breakfast and return home.
Excursion days are subject to change and will be confirmed with your final travel documents.
