Overview

Our NEW tour for 2024 takes in two fantastic attractions associated with Maritime Britain. With included visits to Chatham Historic Dockyard and the Royal Greenwich Museums including entry to the Cutty Sark, National Maritime Museum, and the Royal Observatory.

Itinerary

Day 1. Friday We depart and travel to historic Rochester, with its Norman Castle and historic Cathedral. It was cherished by Charles Dickens, who lived in the area as a child and returned as a successful author. With history dating back centuries, there is so much to see and do in the historic city itself including the stunning Rochester Cathedral, founded in 604 and the second oldest in England. The High Street is also packed with quaint, independent shops and a great range of cafes and restaurants. We depart later this afternoon for the journey to Chatham and the Bridgewood Manor Hotel. This evening enjoy a three-course evening meal.

Day 2. Saturday Following breakfast, we include entrance to Chatham Historic Dockyard. Step into the heart of Chatham’s legendary ship building heritage and return to the ‘Age of Sail’, when the Dockyard built mighty ships that won command of the world’s oceans. A visit to The Historic Dockyard Chatham - one of Britain’s leading maritime heritage destinations – is a guaranteed adventure. It's also your chance to walk in the footsteps of stars of the screen - box office smash hits including Bridgerton and Call the Midwife were filmed at the Dockyard. Test your sea legs as you peer through the periscope of a Cold War Submarine, command the bridge of a WWII Destroyer and ring the ship’s bell on the deck of a Victorian Sloop.

Day 3. Sunday We depart after breakfast and enjoy a visit to Greenwich a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the most historic areas of London. It's also one of the greenest, with Greenwich Park and the River Thames providing fresh air and breathtaking city views. We include a Royal Museums Greenwich Day Pass which includes entrance to the Royal Observatory, Cutty Sark and the free museums. The Royal Observatory is home to the world-famous Meridian Line and Greenwich Mean Time (GMT), whilst the Cutty Sark is the world’s sole-surviving tea clipper. We depart later this afternoon to make our journey home.

Excursion days are subject to change and will be confirmed with your final travel documents.
