We depart later this afternoon for the journey to Telford and the Mercure Telford. This evening enjoy a three-course evening meal
Day 2. Tuesday Following breakfast, we make the short journey to the Ironbridge Gorge. A World Heritage Site and the beating heart of the Industrial Revolution, the Ironbridge Gorge is home to some amazing museums that make for an unforgettable experience. Whether you are interested in fine China, decorative tiles, or a Victorian recreated town, it’s all to be found in this stunning World Heritage Site (some museums are subject to seasonal opening).
Day 3. Wednesday Today we visit the small market town of Much Wenlock, home to majestic remains of Wenlock Priory. A delightful mix of medieval, Tudor, Georgian and Victorian buildings, Much Wenlock owes its existence to Wenlock Priory, founded AD 680, and now an extremely picturesque ruin. The modern Olympic Games have strong links with the town. We continue to Ludlow, a thriving medieval market town and an architectural gem. The historic town centre and the 11th century Ludlow Castle are situated on a cliff above the River Teme and are surrounded by the beautiful countryside of south Shropshire and the Welsh Marches.
Day 4. Thursday We enjoy a leisurely breakfast this morning, before we cross the England and Wales border and enjoy a 2-hour journey on-board the Welshpool & Llanfair Light Railway. Opened in 1903 to link the market town of Welshpool to the rural community of Llanfair Caereinion, this 2-foot 6-inch narrow gauge steam railway passes through rolling countryside, where you will be able to observe the beautiful nature which surrounds the line.
Day 5. Friday We depart after breakfast and travel home via the award-winning RAF Museum Cosford. The museum houses one of the largest aviation collections in country with 70 historic aircraft displayed in three wartime hangars. Explore thrilling displays of aircraft, iconic cars, models, tanks and even life-sized Russian dolls and marvel at the world’s oldest Spitfire and several other classic aircraft in the War in the Air Hangar. We depart later this afternoon to make our journey home.
