Day 1. Saturday We depart and travel to Pickering where we board the North Yorkshire Moors Railway. Our scenic 24-mile journey will pass through a variety of scenery including wooded valleys, heather clad moorland, and picturesque villages, until we reach the seaside town of Whitby. We will enjoy a short visit to Whitby to enjoy its narrow streets and bustling harbour and perhaps sample arguably the best fish & chips in the world! We depart later this afternoon for the journey to Middlesbrough and the Leonardo Hotel Middlesbrough. This evening enjoy a three-course evening meal.
Day 2. Sunday Following breakfast, we depart and travel to historic York. A place of extraordinary cultural wealth, this beautifully preserved medieval city is a must for history buffs. Step 2,000 years into the past as you wander the Gothic halls of York Minster Cathedral, delve into the city’s Viking past, or explore history of a different kind at the National Railway Museum. Trace the footsteps of William the Conqueror at Clifford’s Tower, or visit the independent boutiques nestled in the pretty 13th century timber buildings of The Shambles. We depart later this afternoon to make our journey home.
Excursion days are subject to change and will be confirmed with your final travel documents.
