Day 1. Friday We depart and visit Richmond. Standing proud at the gateway to the Yorkshire Dales, Richmond is one of Britain's most beautiful and vibrant market towns. With its fine historic buildings, sweeping cobbled marketplace and leafy riverside vistas, it is the original of no less than 105 worldwide Richmond’s. With its breathtaking views of the Yorkshire Dales, Richmond's iconic Castle is one of the greatest Norman fortresses in Britain. We depart later this afternoon for the journey to Darlington and the Mercure Darlington Kings Hotel. This evening enjoy a three-course evening meal.
Day 2. Saturday Today we enjoy a day at leisure to explore Durham. With its medieval past, Durham has eagerly embraced the modern with its captivating mix of history and heritage with contemporary culture. A captivating city with winding cobbled streets and a prominent peninsula crowned with the dramatic Durham Cathedral and Castle World Heritage Site. Explore the timeless quality of this quintessential old English University City and take some time out with a relaxing riverside walk or river cruise, or soak up the atmosphere with superb cafés, artisan workshops, boutiques, galleries, and museums.
Day 3. Sunday We depart after breakfast and travel home via Beamish. Nestling in 300 acres, Beamish vividly recreates life in the North of England in the early 1800s and 1900s. Meet knowledgeable staff who are decked out in historical costume, who shine a light on the stories, facts, and the goings on of everyday life at locations set throughout the expansive outdoor museum. Travel by tram or old-fashioned bus from the Edwardian Town and Pit Village and experience first-hand how the Industrial revolution transformed agricultural life in the region. We depart later this afternoon to make our journey home.
