Day 1. Sunday We depart and travel to Oxford, the City of Dreaming Spires. Steeped in a rich and fascinating history, Oxford is famous for its prestigious university and is home to 38 colleges where many notable scholars have emerged. Its charming scenery has been the inspiration for many. Visit the halls of the university and follow in the footsteps of Prime Ministers, poets and the one and only Harry Potter. It is also a favourite filming location for many famous TV shows, such as Inspector Morse. We depart later this afternoon for the journey to Sutton Scotney and the Norton Park Hotel. This evening enjoy a three-course evening meal.
Day 2. Monday Today we enjoy a visit to Winchester, an unspoilt cathedral city on the edge of the rolling South Downs. Winchester is England’s ancient capital and former seat of King Alfred the Great. Popular for its bustling shopping, Winchester is most well-known for its eleventh century cathedral and for the Great Hall which for over 700 years has housed the mysterious Round Table. Later this afternoon we head to Bombay Sapphire with a fully guided tour of the distillery. Here you will discover how they make their world-famous gin and the processes they use to make it so unique. Enjoy a complimentary Gin & Tonic cocktail during this experience.
Day 3. Tuesday We depart after breakfast and travel home via Highclere Castle, more lovingly known as Downton Abbey. Explore the home of the Crawley family and their servants on this real-life film set. Entry also includes access to the Egyptian exhibition and gardens. There are between 250 and 300 rooms in the Castle and during your tour you will explore the main state rooms so familiar from "Downton Abbey". You will see some of the bedrooms after which you will follow the stairs down to the cellars and old staff quarters where you will find the Egyptian Exhibition. We depart later this afternoon to make our journey home.
