Day 1. Sunday We depart and travel to Castle Howard. It is one of Britain’s finest historic houses, situated just outside York in the Howardian Hills, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. See the lavishly decorated interiors of Castle Howard transformed for Christmas. Enjoy breathtaking dramatic installations, lighting and soundscapes evoking everything we love about this special time of year. We depart Castle Howard and continue to the outskirts of York and the Mercure York Fairfield Manor Hotel. This evening enjoy a three-course evening meal and then spend a relaxing evening in the hotel.
Day 2. Monday We depart after breakfast and enjoy free time in York and the St. Nicholas Fair. The famous alpine chalets will line Parliament Street and St Sampson’s Square, creating a festive wonderland, with an array of local traders and artisan products. Soak up the city’s medieval charm and scents of spiced mulled wine this season, as fairs, family fun and festival flavours transform York into a festive fairytale. A place of extraordinary cultural wealth, York is a beautifully preserved medieval city that’s a must for history buffs. We depart later this afternoon to make our journey home.
