Day 1. Friday We depart and visit Leicester and the Richard III Visitor Centre. You will be able to immerse yourself in history as you explore the site where the last Plantagenet king was discovered. This must-see attraction offers an amazing opportunity to delve into the life and reign of one of England’s most enigmatic monarchs. From interactive exhibits to archaeological finds, the centre brings the past to life. We depart later this afternoon for the journey to Kettering and the Kettering Park Hotel. This evening enjoy a three course evening meal.
Day 2. Saturday Today we visit Cambridge. Abounding with exquisite architecture, exuding history and tradition, and renowned for its quirky rituals, Cambridge is a university town extraordinaire. The tightly packed core of ancient colleges, the picturesque riverside 'Backs' (college gardens) and the leafy green meadows surrounding the city give it a more tranquil appeal than its historic rival Oxford. Admire the beautiful architecture and majestic college buildings and explore the quaint passages set around the historic marketplace.
Day 3. Sunday We depart after breakfast and travel to Wansford for a journey on the Nene Valley Railway. Step back in time as you climb aboard a heritage steam or diesel train and relax in the restored wooden panelled coaches or compartments on the 7.5-mile route along the River Nene. Later this afternoon we enjoy a scenic cruise on Rutland Water. You will be able to enjoy the scenery onboard from the water, amidst the sailors, anglers and waterbirds, whilst listening to commentary highlighting points of interest. We depart later this afternoon to make our journey home.
