Itinerary

Day 1. Monday We travel to Chepstow.

Day 2. Tuesday Following breakfast, we include entrance to Chepstow Castle and Tintern Abbey. Beautifully preserved Chepstow Castle stretches out along a limestone cliff above the River Wye. The stones of this magnificent clifftop fortress trace 900 years of history. For more than six centuries Chepstow was home to some of the wealthiest and most powerful men of the medieval and Tudor ages. Still standing in roofless splendour on the banks of the River Wye, nearly 500 years since its tragic fall from grace, Tintern Abbey is a national icon. It was founded in 1131 by Cistercian monks. There will also be free time in Chepstow.

Day 3. Wednesday Today we enjoy a visit to Abergavenny. This lively market town at the edge of the Brecon Beacons National Park is famous for its annual food festival, but there is plenty of things to see and do all year round. If there is one thing market towns are good for, it's browsing independent shops and market stalls. There are a number of weekly markets in the Victorian Market Hall, selling everything from locally produced food and drink to antiques. From prehistory to Roman remains, medieval castles and industrial heritage, there’s lots to enjoy in and around Abergavenny.

Day 4. Thursday Enjoy a day visiting to Bristol. Delve into maritime history at the legendary SS Great Britain steamship or discover awe-inspiring views on a tour of the historic Clifton Suspension Bridge. Designed by famous engineer Isambard Kingdom Brunel, the iconic steamship SS Great Britain is at the heart of this multi award-winning visitor attraction. See historic works of art at Bristol Museum & Art Gallery, or savour local ale and cosy up in one of its eclectic bars, pubs, or breweries. There's fantastic shopping on independent-minded Gloucester Road, great global cuisine from Georgian Market Hall St Nick’s, and buzzing bars and cafes along the Harbourside.

Day 5. Friday We depart and return home.

Excursion days are subject to change and will be confirmed with your final travel documents.
