Embark on an unforgettable adventure as you explore the Falkirk Wheel, the world’s only rotating boat lift. Marvel at this awe-inspiring feat of engineering, where cutting-edge technology merges with ancient principles first outlined by Archimedes over 2,000 years ago. Next, enjoy a guided tour of The Kelpies, the towering equine sculptures that stand as the largest of their kind in the world. These magnificent steel creatures will captivate you with their immense scale and stunning craftsmanship. Our itinerary also includes a cruise on the Firth of Forth, offering breathtaking views of the Three Bridges, the Edinburgh skyline to the south, and the Kingdom of Fife to the north. To complete the break, we’ll take a walk to Stirling Castle, one of Scotland’s most historically significant sites, with a free day to explore.

Itinerary

Day 1. Monday We travel to Stirling.

Day 2. Tuesday Today we enjoy a journey on the Falkirk Wheel, the world’s only rotating boat lift. During the journey, you will sail through the sky to join the Union Canal 35m above. After smoothly moving along the aqueduct and through the Roughcastle Tunnel to the beginning of the Union Canal, you will then descend to the start point, returning you to the Visitor Centre. Later we continue The Kelpies, home to the largest equine sculptures in the world. Joined by an informative tour guide you will learn more about the story of The Kelpies. Standing at 100ft tall and weighing more than 300 tonnes each, they are a true wonder of Scotland.

Day 3. Wednesday Enjoy a day travelling to Edinburgh with an included cruise on the Firth of Forth. There are plenty of exciting things to do in Edinburgh, from stunning architecture and endless winding streets to an awe-inspiring castle perched on a dormant volcano. You can admire artworks in galleries and treasured wonders in museums and explore Princes Street – a paradise for shopaholics. Our scenic 90-minute cruise on the Firth of Forth will take in the spectacular views of the Three Bridges, the beautiful panoramas of the Edinburgh skyline to the south and the Kingdom of Fife to the north and is a great way to end the day.

Day 4. Thursday Enjoy a free day to explore Stirling with included entrance to Stirling Castle, one of Scotland's most historically important sites. Stirling Castle was once a favoured residence of the Stewart Kings and Queens who held grand celebrations at the castle. Generations of Scottish monarchs have enlarged, adapted and embellished Stirling Castle. Explore its three main enclosures, and then admire the refurbished Royal Palace – childhood home of Mary Queen of Scots. A small city with a big history, Stirling is known for historic attractions including the Old Town Jail, spectacular scenery and it celebrated its 900th anniversary in 2024.

Day 5. Friday We depart and return home.

Stirling Highland Hotel

Dating back to 1854, when it was a High School, the Stirling Highland Hotel is steeped in history and is a few minutes-walk from Stirling Castle.
All bedrooms are en-suite with television, tea/coffee making facilities and Wi-Fi.
Additional facilities include the Scholars Restaurant and Headmasters Study bar & lounge.
Leisure facilities include an indoor swimming pool, sauna, steam room, whirlpool bath, fully equipped gym and squash court.
Lift to the 1st and 3rd floors only. No lift access to bedrooms on the 2nd floor. No ground floor bedrooms.
