Famous for its sparkling, granite buildings and monuments and central beach, Aberdeen will be the only UK host port for the Tall Ships Races, as more than 50 vessels from across the globe are berthed on the quayside. The quayside in Aberdeen’s North Harbour will be transformed with a spectacular forest of masts.

Itinerary

Day 1. Sunday We travel to Dundee.

Day 2. Monday Today we enjoy visit to St. Andrews, Scotland’s world-famous home of Golf. It is known for its historic university, medieval streets and gorgeous traditional buildings. Standing proudly on the east coast, the town is filled with exciting things to see and do, from St Andrews Cathedral to nearby Scotland’s Secret Bunker. Later this afternoon we enjoy a visit to Scone Palace, the crowning place of Scottish kings where Macbeth, Robert the Bruce and Charles II were once crowned. Scone Palace has an exciting and colourful history as one of Scotland’s most important stately homes and is surrounded by beautiful gardens and peaceful woodland.

Day 3. Tuesday Enjoy a day travelling further north, as we travel to Aberdeen. Famous for its sparkling, granite buildings and monuments and central beach, Aberdeen will be the only UK host port for the Tall Ships Races. The quayside in Aberdeen’s North Harbour will be transformed into a world-class event space, with a spectacular forest of masts as more than 50 vessels from across the globe are berthed there, ready to welcome visitors on board. The quayside will host a rich range of attractions from food and craft stalls to street performers during the Tall Ships Races and venues across the city centre will also offer exhibitions, free activities and art installations. Hotel on a bed & breakfast basis.

Day 4. Wednesday Enjoy a day visiting Dundee. Situated on the Tay estuary, Dundee is Scotland’s sunniest and most dynamic city, and its revitalised waterfront is home to the V&A Museum of Design, the world's only V&A museum outside of London. The McManus Art Gallery & Museum offers a fascinating insight into a city through its 8 galleries that hold a wealth of information to discover in exhibitions of art, history and the environment. Whilst at the RSS Discovery you can experience life in the Antarctic with Captain Scott and his crew on the Royal Research Ship Discovery at Discovery Point. Climb aboard this remarkable ship to uncover the tale of one of the most heroic voyages of exploration ever undertaken. There is lots to see and do in Dundee and it is the UK’s only UNESCO designated City of Design.

Day 5. Thursday We depart and return home.

Excursion days are subject to change and will be confirmed with your final travel documents.
