Itinerary

Day 1. Tuesday: We depart and travel to Lockerbie for one night, dinner, bed, and breakfast at the Dryfesdale Country House Hotel (NO LIFT. Limited ground floor bedrooms).

Day 2. Wednesday: After breakfast we continue our journey north, travelling alongside Loch Lomond, home to the largest expanse of fresh water in the UK. Our final journey of the day will take us to Broadford on the magical Isle of Skye and the Dunollie Hotel for two nights, dinner, bed & breakfast (NO LIFT. Limited ground floor bedrooms. There are 22 steps to the restaurant). The Island of Skye is 50 miles long and the largest of the Inner Hebrides. This island has a rich history and a great destination for wildlife watching.

Day 3. Thursday: Today we enjoy a visit to Dunvegan Castle & Gardens. Any visit to the Isle of Skye is incomplete without enjoying the wealth of history and clan MacLeod legend at the award winning Dunvegan Castle & Gardens. It is the oldest continuously inhabited castle in Scotland and has been the ancestral home of the Chiefs of clan MacLeod for 800 years. Originally designed as a fortress to keep people out, today you can tour an award-winning castle and Highland estate steeped in history and clan legend and delight in the beauty of its formal gardens. On display are many fine oil paintings and clan treasures, the most famous of which is the Fairy Flag. Legend has it that this sacred banner has miraculous powers and when unfurled in battle, the clan MacLeod would invariably defeat their enemies.

Day 4. Friday We depart after breakfast and enjoy a visit to Portree, the main town on the Isle of Skye. Our scenic journey will continue to Uig where we board the Caledonian MacBrayne ferry to Tarbert on the Isle of Lewis. Our journey will continue across the Isle of Lewis to Stornoway and the Cabarfeidh Hotel for two nights, dinner, bed & breakfast (Lift to all floors. No ground floor bedrooms).

Day 5. Saturday Today we enjoy a guided tour of Lewis. Lewis is the largest and most northern island in the Outer Hebrides, home to one of the best prehistoric sites in Scotland, and some fabulous beaches. Discover the rich history of the proud Lewis people, and the strong Gaelic traditions. Some attractions visited may incur an additional charge, payable on the day. The Callanish Standing Stones will be closed to visitors in 2025 due to a major redevelopment of the visitor centre.

Day 6. Sunday After breakfast we enjoy some free time in Stornoway, home to a busy port where you can stroll along the quay. Later this afternoon we will board the Caledonian MacBrayne ferry from Stornoway to Ullapool. On arrival in Ullapool, we will continue to the Caledonian Hotel for one night, dinner, bed and breakfast (NO LIFT. Limited ground floor bedrooms).
